I'm considering a move to the city or Oak Park. What's the best neighborhood for an artsy 37 year old single?

Depends on your budget and what kind of people you want to live around.

Are you going to be working downtown?

And as Tony says, budget is a big factor! If you share some more details, we can probably provide more tailored answers.

Since you are artsy I would suggest North Center, Roscoe Village, or Lincoln Square.

However, living in the Gold Coast, River North, West Loop, or Old Town would probably be better overall for a single person in your age group.

Wicker Park, Bucktown, Ukrainian Village, and Logan Square also have a trendy/artsy vibe, but they may skew a bit younger than you want.

She works in Aurora.

Is Oak Park a good place for singles?

^ Oh God, ow. Don't live on the North side. Oak Park is your best bet, but that is not a commute I'd want to do everyday. Or even occasionally.
