You can get a good hotel on Priceline for 60 dollars. Pick the gold coast or mich.ave three stars and you will get something decent and safe. Parking then again can be another fifty dollars. You could stash your car in a lot somewhat on the outskirts of the loop and take cabs and CTA. If you want to see the city you should stay in it and not in a suburban hotel.

There is a website that only shows chicago hotels Stats about all US cities - real estate, relocation info, house prices, home value estimator, recent sales, cost of living, crime, race, income, photos, education, maps, weather, houses, schools, neighborhoods, and more. hotrooms.com
Have had amazing luck with it for both downtown and suburban hotels.

Have a great trip.

Default best hotels in chicago

As you are not usual to travel alone so you have some sense of fear and doubts in your mind. To overcome these factors you may also think of staying in a hostel instead of hotel. Hostels have many independent travelers and you can easily find a good company there. You can also share your worries with your new friends and learn from their experience of solo traveling........Wish you a wonderful trip.

Check www.bedbugregistry.com to make sure there are no bed bugs at the hotel you are staying at.

Just because a hotel is not on the bed bug registry does not mean it has no bed bugs.

There are hotels in lincoln park/lakeview/wicker park also, which aren't exactly high end but probably doable on a budget if you are more into the neighborhood thing. I've never stayed in a hotel in Chicago so can't really comment much on it. The Hostel International downtown is nice (much nicer than most) and has a lot of information there to get you around if you are up for that.

and good grief, thank you for bringing up bed bugs. i already hate hotels to start with. do you want me to stay home? :P hahaha

how safe are hostels? i'm weird and probably wouldn't want to meet any other independent travelers... too many scary movies.
