Since I live in the suburbs and work in the South Loop "my Chicago" is the intersection of Jackson and Clark. I am around that area everyday and also frequent Oglivie train station. My son lives in Southport corridor so I am up there on weekends sometime visiting and I'm usually around there or not too far away from there. Occasionally I will venture into other places or go to the lakefront. I almost never go to the south or west sides, and never go further north than Foster.

Since I no longer live in Chicago, "my Chicago" consists of what I can cram into my annual trips up there. (sometimes more often if an elderly relative becomes ill).

Grew up in Logan Square, attended James Monroe Elementary. It is interesting to drive by the old house and see that Polish people live there now (indicated by the flag that they are flying) and that they are running a construction business out of it. Later on, moved to Jefferson Park and graduated from Taft. The house in Jeff Park is identical to when I lived there...or, so it would seem from the outside.

Now, the relatives and friends all live in the northern suburbs. But, that doesn't stop me from hanging out downtown, going to festivals, milenium park and also re-discovering neighbourhoods, museums and the restaurants of my youth. The lakefront is always on my list of must-dos. Of course, I try to get back for a Cubs game at least once a year or so, and the whole concept around Wrigleyville is kind of amazing to me...back in my day, that didn't exist. Trying to navigate the suburbs is frustrating to me; like I am in a different place entirely.

Will be coming up there the first week in Nov for a week; my elderly uncle is not doing well in Friendship Village, so, he will be my first priority. After that, we have tentative plans to visit the Aquarium and Brookfield zoo. (and who knows where else!)

Never go to to the south side. Would NEVER think of going to a Sox game (the AA feeder team is right here in Charlotte, will not even consider going to that park for a game). Am too old-school for that!
Yes, I still have a big dose of the Chicagoan loyalty; won't go to a Macy's either....
