Someone posted the following on the Logan Square ListServe. He said that this is city wide.

Quote:
Just talked to the CAPS Sgt. in 25. The CAPS program is unofficially dead. This comes from downtown and is effective city wide. Except for a Sgt. and two POs, all officers are being reassigned immediately. Starting Jan. 1st, all beat meetings will be held quarterly. And last but not least, they are doing away with the housing officers. All problems relating to troubled housing will now be handled by the building department.
Does anyone have confirmation? Personally, I've gotten a lot out of our CAPS meetings and in 14 they are always pretty well attended by community members. The two times I've had issues that I brought to the floor I've noticed an increased presence of drive by officers and it has definitely helped (though the issues were nuisance, not serious).

It looks like as part of this dismantling CPD will no longer deal with problem buildings. It will now fall into the hands of the building department. I wonder if this means that calls for loitering, noise complaints, public drunkenness and drug use will be rerouted.
