I'm sure this has been asked before but I am driving Friday morning from Milwaukee to Chicago to see the Oprah show. We have to be at the studio at 9AM.

How long of a commute do you think it will be? Will I need to leave my house before 6am?

Thanks in advance

In order to park and get where you need to be on time, probably. Can you drive in Thursday night and stay somewhere closer to the city?

Good suggestion but not an option. Thanks

There is an Amtrak train (the Hiawatha) leaving Milwaukee at 6:15 arriving at 7:57 in Chicago. From Chicago Union Station less than 10 minutes by cab to Harpo studios. Unfortunately, I don't know what the on-time percentage for the Hiawatha train is.

There is a large group of people I work with that take that train, it has a good on time schedule, only one-time do I remember a group of people be late due to train delays. The issue is limited return trains, I believe.

Another option that i used to do when I lived in MKE and was interviewing in Chicago was to drive to Glenview, park in the daily parking, and hop the metra into the city.

Its probably easier to drive into the Metra station in Kenosha, WI or Winthrop Harbor, IL. That line runs into Ogilve (sp?) and both of those stops are way closer to Milwaukee. My dad takes that train every day from Kenosha to Chicago.

Oh well then I'd definitely check out the train schedules. Metra is pretty reliable and you could almost walk to the studio from the train station.
