I am moving to Chicago and will be working in Lake Zurich. I was hoping to live in Lincoln Park or Bucktown areas. How should I commute to Lake Zurich? I could drive or I have looked into the possibility of taking the Northwest Union Metra to the Palatine stop and leaving my car overnight during the week and driving from there to the office.

Any comments on the best course of action or a better route would be appreciated.

Thanks!

WOW! That is quite a commute. I would check out the trip planner that the metra offers. Bucktown would be more convenient for your commute than Lincoln Park.

I know it is quite a commute, but I need to live toward the city right now. I have been living in a Pennsylvanian suburb for the last year and the monotony and boredom are killing me.

Unless you're a complete masochist, you can't do that drive. It would be 2 hours, each direction.

I understand the need to live in the city. I live in Ukranian Village and work in the St. Charles area, but my drive is only an hour. 290 and 88 aren't nearly as brutal as 90/94. Traffic off the highway on the north side streets is also terrible.

By the time you got home at night, there'd be no street parking. So if you do drive, be sure to buy a parking spot.

I also don't think you can park at the train stations overnight, but I would research that first.
