Good morning,

I am going to my first Sox game tomorrow night and I am trying to figure out the best option (cheapest, safest) way to get to the ballpark from Hyde Park.

I saw that I could take the 55 Bus over to the Garfield Red Line station (I live near 55th and Hyde Park) and then take the Red line up to Sox-35th.

I am considering this option but I am questioning the idea of taking the bus on the way home (since it'll be around 10 pm when the game ends); possible wait time at that station.

I heard that there is also a free shuttle from IIT but it only goes into effect if the regular lots are full.

Comments? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Take the 14 (local) bus to the 47th street el stop and the red line to 35th street. Or, since you live closer to 55th street, take the 55 Garfield bus to the red line and ride to 35th street.

Two months ago on the red line at 11 pm on a Tuesday I met a 60 year old white Hyde Park friend of mine who was on his way home, via the 55 Garfield bus. Its relatively safe.

If you're worried about standing on Garfield waiting for the 55 after the game, just stay inside the station until you see the bus coming west. Or just text CTABUS 6524 to 41411. That will tell you when the next two buses (EB Garfield at Dan Ryan Red Line Sta) are due.
