I think people in that immediate area (Long Grove / Kildeer) are opposed to the extension because Highway 53 as it stands already terminates at Lake-Cook Road, which puts you quite close to the area already. The people that would truly benefit from an extension would be the ones living further North & NW (ie. Mundelein, Grayslake, etc.).

Great thank you! I am not too familiar with the issue, so I was curious.

Mundelein also opposed the 53 extension for many years. I don't know about Grayslake. And regarding the Libertyville-downtown train station: parking there is limited. Many Libertyville residents drive to other stations.

I know most kids go to Stevenson, which is supposed to be a great school.
I am in Lonbg Grove. The Buffalo Grove Train station is 1.5 miles from my house, 45-50 minutes to Union station. The Imax theater is down the road, there are restaurants, great shopping, the wonderful Village of Long Grove, and Barrington is a 20 minute drive. We are selling our home beautiful home on 2 acres in Long Grove, as I'm getting ready to retire and move Florida. We grieved our taxes and got a 4k reduction. If you are still looking for a home in Long Grove, let me know. I am in Stevenson whoch is the best schools in the state.

Most of LG feeds into Stevenson. A slice of it goes to Lake Zurich and another slice to Mundelein.

Kildeer is also a split town, feeding into either Lake Zurich or Stevenson.

So if Stevenson is your choice and your property taxes will reflect this choice, make sure the houses you consider are in district.

Poster DmD is right. Buffalo Grove is probably your best choice for a commute to the city. The drive during rush hours is a killer, most days.

Resale value is excellent.
Resale values were very generally very good.

LG and Kildeer are not exempt from overall market conditions. OP is a buyer and probably realizes the many opporunities out there, right now.

Actually it would help alleviate the traffic bottleneck at Rte 53 and Lake Cook Rd. It would lower traffic on Rte 53 through Long Grove and Rte 83.
NIMBY shortsightedness!
