We are going to move to Prospect Hts soon and I would like to hear what do you think of SD 23.
Is it good? Bad?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lea

We have 2 kids in SD23. One in 3rd grade another in 7th grade. We came from private school because of social and (lack of) discipline issues. The change has been phenomanol! We are VERY pleased with the district. They focus on peer relationship development, have a very clear and high standard of personal conduct, have good teachers and excellent extra-curricular activities. The band and orchestra programs are fantastic! There is also a mix of many cultures that I like. I feel it compares very favorably to SD 25. The only thing I do not like is that the 8th grade class gets split up and sent to 2 different high schools (Hersey & Wheeling) instead of all attending the same high school.
Although the park district is smaller than Arlington Heights, it's still pretty good. We like their swim program. The library is also smaller, but again very nice.
We live in Lake Arlington, which is Arlington Heights but SD 23. Since our kids atttend SD 23 we get residence rates at park district and since it's closer we use PH library in addition to AH library.

Cubssoxfan,

Do you know on what bases/criteria this split up is based on?

My understanding is it is based on geography. The students north of Palatine Rd. go to Wheeling, students south go to Hersey. I believe the HS district website has a boundary map.
