Hi there! I'm new to the area (I live in Warrenville, actually), and I just scored a job in Chicago. I'd love to take the train to the city, but there's a ridiculous 8-10 year waiting list for a parking permit at the Naperville Metra! Does anybody out there have a permit they're willing to sell? It would make my life SO much easier... Thank you!!

I commuted to Chicago for a year. You can get a card to use at the Metra Station and load it up with cash. I would do so once a month, when I got my monthly Metra pass.

Rt. 59 just opened up some spots for lease through a private company, although I can't remember the name off hand. They were going to lease them, then decided to sell them condo-style, but have gone back to just leasing them..

Why don't you take the train in Wheaton? You can park across the street from Wheaton Center in the double decker lot for a buck a day. You have to get there early like around seven for a place. Its not ideal. There is also day parking in the lot kitty corner.

I don't live there, but I have heard that parking is a huge problem at the Naperville station. There are some shuttle buses to the station, you may want to research those. There have been stories of people who no longer work downtown (illegally) renting out their parking permits to commuters.
