Hello-
My husband will be working in Elk Grove Village and I am looking at Arlington Hts, Barrington and Glen Ellyn - although Glen Ellyn may be to far?

What are the best places to live with a family with a shorter commute time for him? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

More info about what you're looking for, what's your budget, etc. would get you useful answers

We have a family, need 3/4 bedrooms budget 400,000 - 500,000 good schools, and don't want a terrible commute and more of the small town feel.

Thanks Again!

Mt. Prospect is very convenient to EGV, has highly rated schools, a mostly traditional downtown with shops, library and other features that give it a somewhat "town center" feel. Target price ought to give you some options.

Arlington Hts, - Very nice downtown, metra to the city, good schools/hospital etc. Easy commute for you. Barrington is a lovely affluent area but a much longer commute. Mount Prospect is a decent, established burb as well, and convinient for you.
Glen Ellyn would be too long a commute. I would suggest Arllington Hts and Mount Prospect as good choices to consider.

Why not live in elk grove village? Its a nice town. Youre gonna have to go way west to get a small town feel, as EGV is in the heart of suburbia.

As the OP requested "small town feel", and is interested in AH,Barrington or Glen Ellyn, I dont beleive EGV would fit that bill. No small town feel, in fact, no real downtown but alot of strip malls, industrial areas and older subdivisions, (and the O'Hare noise and terrible traffic) Small town feel brings up a different picture. It didnt seem to be in line with the others burbs he/she showed interest in. I also question that EGV is in "the heart of suburbia".
