Husband & wife (early 50's) possibly moving to Chicago area. Work will be in Downers Grove. We would like to rent, any suggestions on suburbs, safe and clean, apartment or condo complexes or should we consider living in the city, it would be against the commuter traffic, right?

Downers Grove is wonderful, there are great condos and apartments in the downtown area. It is a clean and safe community, as are most of the western suburbs. I also recommend the inner ring suburbs which offer a close proximity to downtown, with a more suburban feel. We are currently selling a condo in Brookfield, IL. It is just 20 minutes to Downers or 20 minutes to Downtown Chicago, and is located 1 block from the metra line which you can take either way. Its a fast drive to downers as well.
