Ribfest is a smokin' good time. Fun to be had by old and young.

There is no question it has grown. I have gone every year since it's inception which began on Rotary Hill if you can believe it? The growth is a good thing because the proceeds go toward eliminating domestic violence. However, if you're like me and love the food, but the crowds, not so much - go during the day. You won't have an opportunity to enjoy the main stage musical performers which are usually pretty good, but you'll get the pick of the ribbers that come from all over the world and you won't have to wait in line. Ribbers compete for the coveted title of Best Ribber or Best Sauce. There are official judges judging and then there's "The People's Choice" too.

If you enjoy people watching...there's no better place. This definitely beats the airport, even O'Hare. Pull up a blanket and sit a spell

Right, because at Taste of Chicago everything's free and the crowds are small.
