Why is North Chicago so far away from the real thing? Shouldn't it be where Evanston is?

Why is South Chicago a Chicago neighborhood? Shouldn't it be where Calumet City is?

Its all due to the expansion of the universe. At the time of the big bang, West Chicago was located where Oak Park is today. In a few billion years, West Chicago will be where Dekalb is today.

NO - actually I think it had something to do with it being a railroad stop and a whole "marketing" thing. I am sure you can find the history on their website.
