Hi - I am 22, just graduated from college in Wisconsin, and have taken a job in Arlington Heights. I would like to live in an exciting area with lots of young people. Thus, based on what I have heard, the ideal area for me is wrigleyville. All advice or insights from anyone who has made or has any experience with this commute would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lots 'o time on the Kennedy. In other words, horribly miserable. It may not seem that bad looking at a map but the Kennedy is God awful in terms of traffic congestion.

Arlington Heights is a tough one because it's difficult to access from the north side of Chicago and most "fun" suburbs. Evanston is about all I can think of but even then, it would be over an hour each way in traffic on Golf Rd., I'm sure. I don't know much about the towns that surround it -- Rolling Meadows, Mt. Prospect, etc.

I'm sure you've had alot of time to figure out your routes since posting this but just incase.......Wrigleyville is great and I commute out to Arlington Heights very often. The highway is alot of stop and go and it can get very frustrating, but luckily thats not the only route you can take. Living in Wrigleyville gives you great access to Lake Shore Dr and you can take that north to Sheridan, turn north on Sheridan and follow that (it's the circle tour) up into Wilmette just past that Bahai (sp?) Temple. You'll come to a light and that's lake street turn west and follow that, this turns into Euclid and goes straight into Arlington Heights.
Enjoy the drive, its a much better view than a 4 lane traffic jam.

there is plenty to do in elmhurst area but if you want a relatively simple way to get to wrigleyville, take 19 (irving park rd) all the way to clark. you'll come out by wrigley field.

thats the way i usually take to get to the metro

If you take Irving Park to get to a Metro show, where doors typically open at 8 or 8:30pm, that means you're probably not taking it during rush hour. Try it then and you'll want to pull your hair out, and the hair of the person driving the car next to you.
