Wow, quite a bit of anti-Glenview sentiment here. I live in Wilmette, a few minutes to the east. East Glenview is pretty uniformly upscale, with houses from $500,000 to over $2 million and beautiful, shade tree-lined streets. West Glenview is more varied. The construction in Glenview is newer than in East Wilmette, Winnetka, etc. and determined urbanites will find the entire town of Glenview boring, but if you're trying to choose a *suburb*, Glenview is way the heck above average. The high school is considered excellent although not quite New Trier or Stevenson. The apartments are not a great place to raise kids - they're mostly retirees - but the house areas certainly are.

Libertyville HS is ranked 10th in IL, while Glenbrook South HS is 21st. So if you are choosing based on schools, Libertyville is better than Glenview.

Don’t use US News rankings anymore. Better schools than Libertyville were not even ranked last year. Look at the IL state report cards instead.

Really, it is splitting hairs- both of those schools are very good.

First, those rankings are from School Digger so they take testing into account. Second, people always say to ignore a source when it does not fit their argument. If the original question revolves around which school is better, the data supports Libertyville over Glenview.

Your info and methodology are woefully out of date.

Both Libertyville HS and Glenbrook South HS are great schools and it is splitting hairs. But, just for fun, below are stats on the two schools from various sources:

US News
Libertyville - College Readiness Score - 60.2
GBS - College Readiness Score - 55.8

Niche
Libertyville - 10th best HS in Illinois
GBS - 12th best HS in Illinois

Schooldigger
Libertyville - 98.5 percentile in state test scores
GBS - 96.7 percentile in state test scores

Greatschools
Libertyville - 10/10
GBS - 10/10

Average ACT Scores
Libertyville - 25.9
GBS - 25.7

They are both super close to each other, although Libertyville seems to have slightly better scores.

Not that many students in Illinois take the ACT anymore. The College Board is who the state contracts with now. The SAT is now much more common.
