Prices and taxes would be significantly higher there.

We did thought about it but we would love to stick to West/South suburbs.
Northern suburbs around airport just seem to congested, lots are really small and it's almost no difference than Chicago living in this price range.

I bought a house in Lombard for $260k a little under a mile from the metra station so that would be about a 15 minute walk if I had to commute downtown. Lombard is a bit more affordable and closer to the city.

The reason I prefer the northern suburbs is due to proximity to the lake. During summer months is nice to drive 30 minutes to the beach.

Have you considered NW Indiana at all? If you're considering Tinley and Orland, you should also consider NW Indiana; they're pretty similar in my opinion, but your money goes further here due to the lower property taxes. It would be about a 10-15 minute drive to the East Chicago South Shore train station, and they offer express train that could get you to the city in 35 minutes. They're also expanding the train line to include stops in Munster in a few years. You could also get some seriously nice houses for under $300k here.

Thank you all for your help!
We have put an offer on a house in Orland Park and it got accepted!

Home is exactly 10 minutes away from Orland Park and 80th St. Palos Park station.
People from the area, please reach out if you have any suggestions for a new home owner in your neighborhood.

Cheers!
