Those were my parents, the older folks in Elmhurst.
They have since relocated.
Schools are the tough find for the OP. I'm a Downers South grad, and passed(barring PE)all of my classes without even attending. I only appeared for tests, hopefully they have improved their means of weighting final grades.

Looks like you're covered on location options. On another note, Welcome to Chicago! we moved back from the Atlanta area last year. Your kids are going to have a blast this Winter with all the snow!

Personal preference. We're originally from the Chicago area and moved to Atlanta for a job. It was okay at first, but got old really quick. Much happier now that we're back in Illinois. The only thing that may drive us out of the Chicago area again are the taxes, but if we move again, it would likely be to a neighbor state. Love the Midwest and the city of Chicago!

Go to the NW Indiana forum and check out some threads there or post your own thread with questions.
People from Illinois are leaving the state in groves and some move to nearby NWI for its lower property taxes and lower cost of living. Towns such as Munster and St. John have top notch schools, Munster is the most expensive due to its proximity to Chicago and schools but St. John, Dyer and other communities are also safe and more affordable. They are all excellent communities and close to Chicago.

He will be working in Bensenville. NWI is not an option unless he wants to spend countless hours on the road everyday.

and btw, it's droves, not groves! unless they're taking all their trees with them?

That's assuming you can put down 20%. 10% down means of payment of 3800 a month. That would mean your monthly payment is almost 50% of your net pay. How is that perfect?

Uhhhh yeah. I guess everyone has their own comfort level but our personal rule of thumb is that our mortgage payment is under 1/4 of our monthly take-home pay. But, I guess that's the American way. Max out what you can afford!

I just would not call a house with a monthly payment of almost $4000 that has a Kitchen in need of renovation "perfect" ...
