Great info! I will look there too.

Any thoughts on Wheaton vs Naperville?

You can easily find something under $450k in Wheaton and Naperville. Wheaton will be closer to work for you than Naperville, but assuming you're not walking distance to a train station, you'll get quite a bit more house for $450k in either Wheaton or Naperville than the other towns that have been mentioned in this thread. In general they both have good schools and town amenities.

For $450, you an buy a 4br house over 2000 sq ft in MP. I was lucky enough to score a deal last year in MP.

Out of curiosity, how much did your taxes in MP go up after you moved in?

214 W. Lincoln Avenue WHEATON, IL 60187 | Redfin

706 N. Carlton Avenue WHEATON, IL 60187 | Redfin

Two nice homes in central Wheaton <$450k. Walking distance to downtown Wheaton shops and restaurants, Metra train station, schools, Cosley Zoo, Prairie Path, parks and more. Charming, historic neighborhood.

One of the top elementary schools in the state.

Won't know until the 2nd installment. For my house, the taxes were $8400 with a senior exemption (appx ~$500). I closed on 6/28/16 and we got reassessed on 7/1/16. They assessed it for $375k by cook county methods. Using an appeals service, we got that number down to $337k.

So I imagine it would not be far off.

311, Its all about proximity and easy access to big city... the closer you get to chicago and/or a station in a nice (great schools, vibrant and built up downtown, family friendly, safe, historic, etc...) town - the higher the price tag...

Elmhurst is ((considered)) to be much closer than GE - minutes matter... Both towns are still highly desirable...

I second Naperville! Voted one of the best cities to raise a family and it has some of the best schools in the country!! Has a fantastic downtown area with a river walk, shopping and a ton of restaurants. It would take about 45 minutes to get to Bensenville. I recommend Naperville over Mount Prospect!!!
