Hi, I am moving to the Chicago suburbs, and I need the know the best of these suburbs. We are very impressed with all of the following places, in every measure except diversity:

Lincolnshire
Northbrook
Glenview
Winnetka
Northfield
Deerfield
Buffalo Grove
Highland Park
Glencoe
Wilmette
Lake Forest

Which of the areas is most diverse? I have kids, and I need to know which of these suburbs is the most diverse, so my kids can live here. Thanks!

Understand, you are truly referring to something that cannot be measured, and in no way could be considered 'diverse' in the sense that the city of Chicago is (really) diverse. They are mostly relatively affluent suburbs, mind you.

In a relative sense though, Glenview is probably (not necessarily) the one of that north suburban list that could present a more diverse demographic (but not really). YMMV. OTOH, you might not end up living in the part of Glenview which you (personally) feel is 'diverse', nor would your kids be in class with that diversity.

Other factors may play a role ultimately helping you decide where you want to live.

Good luck.

All of the suburbs you mention are very nice and within 10 miles of where I have lived my entire life. They are all great places to raise kids with great school and high taxes, but they are not diverse.
If you are looking for a more diverse setting north of the City, you need to look at Evanston or Skokie. Both are wonderful in my opinion, also.

Highland Park has a Latino population (7.3%) and a bi-lingual Spanish/English curriculum in one of the elementary schools . Highland Park, Deerfield, Glencoe and Northbrook have Jewish populations. Northbrook has a mosque also. All of these suburbs have Asians. If you are looking for African Americans, you will probably find a smattering in each of these places (1-2% or so), but not a lot in any place.

The American Fact Finder website, part of the Census bureau, will have exact population diversity percentages - American FactFinder
Just type in a zip code or place name and choose the "Race and Hispanic or Latino Origin" table link.

Which of these suburbs is the most Asian? By diversity, I mean which has the most Asians?

If you go to the City Data page for each of the towns that you are looking at you will find the demographics there. Simple search and you will find it.

Deerfield is diverse? Now that's a stretch. In what way, may I ask?
