Route 83/45 south to where route/expressway 53 begins(Lake Cook road). Then 53 south to one of the three(Algonquin, Golf or Higgins roads) Schaumburg exits.

If your destination is westmost part of Schaumburg that borders Streamwood, then maybe Route 12/59 south all the way to wherever you need to go.

If you are coming from the liberty lakes area, definately, Freemont to Old Mchenry to Quentein might be another shortcut. 53 backs up bad during rush hour. I would agree with the other instructions if you are heading to west Schaumburg over by the Sears Center.

I am not sure what your price range is but I would look at some of the closer in communities. The JB Conant School District in Schaumburg is way better than anything in Wauconda. It is probably more expensive though and it would be hard to find affordable new construction. Hoffman Estates is also nearby and is very similar to Schaumburg. Much of Hoffman Estates is in the JB Conant School District. Also, I might look at Elgin, but private school would be best. There is a very reputable private school called Fox River Country Day School. It is truly top-notch, they just built a new elementary school about 2 years ago. Elgin will probably give you a very good return in about 5 or 10 years. There is a lot of new development and they are building a new downtown area on the riverfront. Algonquin is also nice, pretty smooth commute to Schaumburg and there might be some new construction available. What is your price range, maybe I can find some stuff for you and PM or post it here.
