Should there be a level of anonymity to these forums without being asked to disclose personal Information or sources?

There is. We don't really know if there is a real Chet Everett although someone posts on this board with that name. We won't really ever know unless someone ever meets up with him in person. On a Facebook page there is a woman who has a man's name and posts as him. Probably to conceal her identity.

The post in question gave me the creeps and seemed too personal. Said post was later deleted.

I think posters should provided what level of personal data they want about themselves but shouldn't be asking others personal questions like where exactly do you live, where are you employed, what is your blood type (j/k that one wasn't asked...)

So that's what this thread is about. Someone asked personal questions of another forum member in a post, and the moderator deleted it. The system apparently worked the way it was supposed to. Your point is ...?

Anyone can ask anyone else anything in a forum as long as it's within the rules; it's up to the person questioned to decide how much to disclose. In the Retirement forum, I've seen people ask questions about other members' financial planning. I've been asked questions face to face that I've declined answering.

So what exactly is being proposed here?
