New Trier is a fabulous high school. There is only one true knock against it: an extremely aged (in parts) physical plant at the main (Soph, Jr, Sr) campus in Winnetka.

The township failed to pass a massive bond issue to tear down portions of the old building and replace them with up to date structures that meet the needs of today's education.

The irony is that this bell and whistles loaded plan might have passed at another time in a community that always valued its schools and put its money where its mouth is.

It is the extent of the so called "recession" that shows how things have changed.

Aside from inconvenience, the physical faults of New Trier are rather manageable. Academically, more than anything else, they tend to hurt greatest in the sciences where the old spaces just can't meet the needs.

So wait, you are saying there is no recession or are you saying there is a depression?
