LK and Hollingworth, you both are a wealth of local information. I had a chance to speak in detail to a GE resident this morning at the meeting I was at an he loves it there, and provided a great perspective as have all of the posters here.

My immediate reaction if I were to focus only on GE would be to look at the area north of the downtown and up to Geneva Road. I think that feed Forest Glen. I'm not concerned about elementary school scores as you're simply discussing slight nuances. I like the idea of being within a close proximity/walkability/bikability for the kids to the elementary/middle/high school.

and since OP expressed a prior interest in Hinsdale, I inserted Hinsdale elementary school scores into the list above as well...

Nice. Just one aesthetic adjustment.

On a side note, anyone know when the results will be released for the new PARCC testing?

They have to figure out how they're going to spin the bad results first.

As far as state rankings go, I was pleased to at least see that Illinois was in the upper half compared to others using common core tests, in spite of the fact that we have a very large school district full of economically disadvantaged low-performing students (CPS).

That would be Forest Glen and Churchill. The attendance boundaries can be found here (warning, it's a PDF):

http://www.d41.org/registration/attendance_map.pdf

Also note that you may have a shorter walk to Hadley and Glenbard West from certain areas in the northern Lincoln or Ben Franklin attendance areas. But it's nice to not have to cross the railroad tracks.

We can walk easily to two of the three, and then have a bus that picks up right in front of our house for the other one. So it works pretty well.

LK, there are few homes for sale that faces Glen Oak Country Club on Hill Avenue. They're relatively cheaper than others in the Village given floor plan and square feet. Are you familiar with that area? Seems a stand alone pocket and probably not great for interacting with neighbors since you have an open view of the golf course. But, it's still in decent proximity to downtown and the Metra. Thanks for your input.

Hill Avenue has a lot of traffic, and that may be the reason for the price break. It's kind of a fast-moving thoroughfare, though many of the houses lining hill are quite nice.

There is really nothing wrong with that area, but I do know multiple people who live on busy streets like Hill, Main, and Park, and they often say they feel like they are less-integrated in to a block or neighborhood. But then again, they get more house for the money, so there is a trade off.

Thanks LK, it's hard to tell on maps which are the busy streets. Beside Hill, Main and Park....are there others?

Also, what can you tell me about the HealthTrack Sports Wellness on Roosevelt? Indoor tennis/swim and proximity is another factor for us. Thanks.
