Im hoping this board can help a friend of mine out....he is looking for a home/townhome and is considering North Aurora...near Farnsworth, and Crete. His main questions are what the areas/schools are like...he has a son entering High School and would like a diverse good school/area. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

The only thing I know about Crete is that's where the late Bernie Mac lived.

I would check the school district boundaries for that area of north aurora. some areas of north aurora are in the west aurora school and some may be in the east aurora area. you really don't want east aurora schools.

I agree with SGresident. Parts of NO. Aurora also attend Batavia schools and the trip to the high school is a long one! West Aurora high school would be better than East High. I personally would pick Batavia HS over either of the Aurora HS. I know nothing about Crete, sorry.

Bernie Mac actually lived in Frankfort - near the Prestwick Country Club - wonderful man and he is already greatly missed. I know he used to live in Crete.

I live close to Crete but do not know a ton about it - I know it is a pretty nice area, but to the North of it is not very diverse and experience a shift from primarily white to primarily black - not sure if you care either way.

Have been to Crete a few times and seems like it has some nice homes and some average homes - know nothing about the schools though - if that matters.

Man, I finished typing and realized what I wrote was of no help to the original poster whatsoever.

BUT, if you are considering Crete - take a look at Homewood, Floosmoor, Frankfort, Tinley Park, Orland Park too - same vicinity and nice areas - you can get a LOT of home for your money in this market too, it might surprise you.
