Hi all I am looking for some suggestions here and will provide some details below.

I currently live on Long Island, NY in a small town (small property) that is close to NY (35 minute train ride)...due to work I will have to move to Illinois and looking for a quiet nice town driving distance to the airport and the city, will also be working on Oak Brook Terrace.

As I look around Saint Charles keeps coming up and seems like a great town for a house from $400,000 to $450,000, you seem to get a lot for your money (coming from Long Island of course).

What I am looking for is:
1) Nice safe area
2) Great Schools, I have 2 shy girls an 8 year old and a 11 year old (THIS IS IMPORTANT)
3) Bike and jogging trails
4) Nice downtown to walk around in.....
5) Good size property for the kids to play

Any suggestions on area's or opinions on Saint Charles please let me know and thanks I need help with this.....

I would look into Batavia. It would make your commute to Oak Brook Terrace tons more bearable.

Saint Charles is way too far in my opinion to commute to Oak Brook Terrace and there are better options closer by. St. Charles does not have a metra train station nor is it situated near major tollways with access to the city. Its better to look at Downers Grove, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn and even Naperville would be a better commute. Elmhurst too which would be close. Oakbrook Terrace itself is a small enclave and not many houses there to choose from. The above suburbs are all as good or better than St. Charles and are better located. When you look at houses pay attention to how far they are away from I-88 as this is the main highway that takes you places if you live in the western suburbs. It links to the city and other areas.

St. Charles to Oakbrook Terrace is not a good commute. I'm not even sure what route you would take without tearing out your hair. You'd be far better off looking along the BNSF in La Grange, La Grange Park, or Downers Grove. Or along the UP-W in Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, or Wheaton.

Oak Brook and Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills are also nice if you can find a house there, but they tend to be the most expensive suburbs in the area. Not a lot of $400k houses available in any of them.

It's much closer to I-88, especially if you live on the southeastern edge near Aurora. The other towns mentioned are fine as well. But I have a bias towards the Fox Valley, while many others have biases towards the Wheaton/Glen Ellyn area and the closer-in suburbs.

I should have mentioned I would only be in Oak Brook once a week and traveling via Ohare throughout the midwest twice a month.
