I had posted a question about Palatine, but had one more question about Wheeling. There is a complex called Cedar run in WHEELING. It looks like is is right near 83, north of dundee. Any comments about this area? Are all areas in wheeling safe? Is the town fun at all? Thanks

I mentioned Cedar Run in your other thread. You don't want to live there. There are some bad areas of Wheeling: Cedar Run, all the apartment/condo complexes across from Cedar Run/Lexington Commons on the south side of Rt 83, and anything off of Strong Ave. Despite being located in between these areas, Lexington Commons, the Whippletree trailer park, and Chelsea Cove are fine.

I'm not a fan of Wheeling at all.

Besides Restaurant Row I'm not sure what else it offeres.

This is not a place I would move to.

I have to ask, what do ANY of the suburbs really have to offer besides a few restaurants? They're all pretty much the same thing. That's why I moved to the city when I left my parents' house in Wheeling.

Kell 447.
Try VIP or Mallard Lake in West Wheeling. Good area surrounded by Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights and Buffalo Grove. You are also in walking distance to Lake Arlington AHPD - Lake Arlington (http://www.ahpd.org/Parks&Facilities/LakeArl/LakeArlington.html - broken link)
which is a great place to walk, skate, jog or bike!
Tell me again why Wheeling specifically, is it job related?

Default You enjoy the city, I'll take the "Boring" suburbs

Less density, traffic and noise if you choose your neighborhood carefully. Less fees & taxes. I can bike on suburban streets safely, I am within 20 minutes of 4 good bike paths where, unlike the lakefront path, can safely do training rides and coexist with recreational users.

City is better for walking to stores, restaurants and night life, but I'm past that and I like the in between exisitence in Arlington Heights. Not city, not country-just right.
Chicago is one of the best areas to live in the entire country. You get what you like and I get what I like. City life, established-well planned-interconnected suburbs and lots of semi-rural and new construction communities farther out. If we could just alter those darn winters

Try Buffalo Grove just to the North, nice multi family units in that area and A+++ schools...

Wheeling was just named by Family Circle magazine as one of the top 10 best cities in the entire country to live.
