Hello everyone,

I have lived in NC my entire life and am planning to move to IL for job in Lemont. My GF is enrolling in school at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago (near Libertyville). We want to live together but Google maps says two locations are approx 50 min apart. Does anyone have a good suggestion for places to live in North Chicago area (I am willing to have longer commute to Lemont)? We are young-ish so any place with stuff to do would be nice. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Frankly lots of BAD CHOICES as you would be hard pressed to find further points to try to compromise on. It it very congested the entire route between those two locations AND there are really very few spots that are particularly fun or affordable along the route. To get to a job in Lemont you would want to live someplace close to I-55 or I-355 south of I-88 and west of IL 83. To get to North Chicago you would want to live near 294, peferably well north of O'Hare and pretty far east too...

Sort of affordable and kind of mid-way but closer to North Chicago the only spots that make any sense are probably Palatine or Wheeling - that's about an hour to Lemont and probably about 45 minutes to North Chicago.

Arlington Height. Fair amount of younger people, lively(by suburban standards) downtown. About 40 minutes to North Chicago and about 45-50 minutes to Lemont.

AH is due north of Wheeling / east of Palatine and a little pricier but it is good suggestion too!
