What is so bad about Mundelein district 65 (not Fremont) schools?

I am looking at Mundelein, grays lake and Gurnee. I work in lake forest and my husband works in Deerfield. We are trying to find an area to live in. We love a house in Gurnee and one in Mundelein. How bad is the commute from Mundelein to Deerfield/lake forest?

I think Mundelein is a very good bet. It is a pretty diverse town but also (unfortunately) segregated. The schools are not terrible as to my knowledge (although my knowledge largely ends with the high school). Their school system is certainly doing better than Grayslake's starved system (they have faced budget cuts for years and have largely eliminated all extra-curriculars) and Gurnee's overcrowded school system (Woodland Middle School detracts many for this reason although Warren HS is pretty good).

I like Mundelein as an option.
