Agree with JLawrence 1, Arlington Heights is top notch and it's nice that most of the good places are located in their downtown area. I am a foodie and really think that La Tasca is better than any of the tapas places in the city.

I thought they sold about 5-ish years ago to a former chef. The current owner having a child in middle school and one going off to college strikes me as being mid-40's-early 50's. Not OLD; but I certainly understand and respect the decision to take a (hopefully & probably) good offer and sell to have a life. I respect that.

Well I assume too. The retirement part was based on the number of years the restaurant was there. I went several times with my second wife, and that was almost 40 years ago. She was the foodie not me, but those two short years of marriage taught me to enjoy the finer things in life,.all over Chicago land. I left the area for Florida in 1980 with third wife, still have that one...so far? Chicago always seemed like home even before and after I moved away....not sure why, cause I come from a farm rural background in Iowa.
