I'm moving to the Chicago area for a job in Hoffman Estates and have no idea where to live.

My ideal place would be an area where young professionals are (mid-20s - 30), overall safe, and majority white. I'd like to find a townhouse or apartment complex that has 1-bedroom and W/D in unit. I don't care much about other amenities, just as long as its not overly loud.

My ideal cost would be less than $1000 per month and I'd be willing to transit up to 20 minutes a day. I could go up to $1400 if required.

Thanks for any information you all can provide.

Well that narrows it down... to pretty much EVERYWHERE!

20 minutes? Where exactly in Hoffman will you be working? It's a pretty big town. In rush hour 20 minutes doesn't necessarily get you THAT far. People on this forum sometimes act like nobody in their 20's lives in the suburbs, or if they do, only certain suburbs, but seriously, they live everywhere. There are a lot of young professionals in Hoffman, Schaumburg, - Arlington Hts might be a good choice. They probably have the best downtown in a 10 mile or so range.

Not if you take the OP's information into account:

$1400 is probably more realistic than 20 minutes if you work 8-4 or 9-5.

I'm not sure you can really consider Hoffman Estates far NW considering it goes east to Roselle Rd. in some spots, even though it does span west of Beverly Rd. near I90. As knitgirl said, HE is pretty big.

Have you been to the Hoffman/Schaumburg area? Not trying to start a race ware here, but it's about 50% white IF THAT, and the number keeps shrinking.
