I'm relocating in Feb/March from Columbus, OH... I have lived here my entire life. I will not be bringing a car. My work will be located on Big Timber Rd.

I am just looking for studio options as I travel frequently and am rarely home, and don't have a lot of stuff. Any recommendations?

My first recommendation is to either bring a car or get one once you get here. Elgin is on the edge of suburbia and public transportation is neither frequent nor comprehensive.

You have to have a car, I've lived in Elgin for 15 yrs and I can't imagine having an enjoyable life without some sort of transportation. Maybe you could get along with just a bike in nice weather. There are PACE buses and I do see people using them, but it's not like living in the city and having buses go by every few minutes. Here's a link for the buses: Pace Bus - Bus Schedules and Maps
