Greetings!

I am wondering if there is a better route to take from the Hoffman Estates area to Villa Park. I recently started my job in HE and I don't have a problem getting to work, but the commute home to VP has been bumper to bumper. Our office is located on W. Higgins Road and I have been taking the following route:

2. Take the 1st right onto Barrington Rd

0.3 mi

3. Take the ramp onto I-90 EToll road

5.2 mi

4. Take the IL-53 exit toward I-290/Chicago-West Suburbs/NW SuburbsToll road

0.4 mi

5. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for I-290 E/IL-53 S/Chicago/W Suburbs and merge onto I-290 E/IL-53 SContinue to follow I-290 E
Partial toll road

10.7 mi

6. Take exit 10A for IL-83 S

0.5 mi

7. Keep left at the fork and merge onto IL-83 S/N Rte 83 S

1.2 mi

8. Turn right onto IL-64/W North Ave
Exiting onto 53 is a nightmare. The toll road backs up and it takes forever. Then the traffic on I-290 E/IL-53 S is pretty bad too. If someone knows of a better route to take, I would really appreciate the help. I was thinking of possibly taking Lake Street all the way to Villa Park if that is possible.

I think you'd have to be completely insane to think that Lake St with its miles of stop lights is any better than the 290 extension.

I might try to work my way from the Elgin - O'Hare over to the Thorndale entrance/exit to 290/53 to avoid 90 and its nightly snarls but depending on how far north you are coming from the shot down Barrington Rd to Irving Park Rd interchange with Elgin-O'Hare might not save enough time to make it worth the hassle...
