An typical home in Oak Park is way more in taxes than one across the street in Chicago.

Seems to me a lot of people think the tax for typical home in Chicaog is out of this world.

Thanks for your reply. I simply stated a couple facts as known to our family and experiences in Cook County overall.

OP was asking about apartments in NW suburbs:
Dunton Towers, Avalon, Brook Run in Arlington Heights.
Village Green at Arlington Club and Woodland Creek in Wheeling.

It would be helpful to know what part of DC you're coming from, if you like it and want to replicate it? Loudoun? Balston? Etc?? We just did the opposite (Chicgo (Glen Ellyn) to DC (Loudoun via Brambleton). Chicago isn't a bad place. But it is completely different from DC on every level.
