Hi everyone,
I am a 30 year old single woman being relocated to Naperville for work. I don't know very many people at all and am looking for advice/tips on good places to meet people. Good recommendations on local restaurants/bars in the Naperville and surrounding areas. I know that ideally living in the city would be the easiest way to meet people but unfortunately that's not feasible since my office is in Naperville. Any advice is appreciated!

Honestly if you google "Naperville events for singles" there is no shortage of entries. Lots of stuff at both local wine bars / night spots and outings to everything from skiing to Cubs games...

You'll probably wind up meeting some people at work to maybe go out with and meet more people but there's no shortage of things to do and ways to meet people.

If you have a dog there's some good dog parks in the area, one off royce one off Naper Plainfield.

There's tons of meetup groups in Naperville and surrounding burbs for pretty much any activity you would want.

Some people don't like craigslist but craigslist is always an option look for an activity partner whether it be running, going out for a drink, playing some sport, etc. Probably easier for girls, for dudes you put up a post you get a bunch of gay guys wanting you to meet them in the steam room at a gym, seems there's some normal women on there. though.

Pick up a copy of the Naperville sun, they normally list all types of activities.

As for bars. Quigleys, The Lantern, Jimmy's would probably be more condusive to meeting people than Features or Rizzos or something like that.

Talking Naperville

My gym in Warenville (the Lifetime fitness) has tons of activities going on which would be a great way to meet people. I second the idea of googling some things - like what you're interested in and Naperville. I found a great Moms board that way. I've been fortunate to meet some great people through church and just being downtown and in the parks. Speaking of parks - try some activities the parks system offers. Good stuff!

Other good opportunities are through the Park District. They sponsor trips and and fun events. In addition volunteering is a great way to meet people and there is no shortage of opportunities here. The Jaycees, Rotary, Habitat for Humanity to name a few. You can become involved with planning The Last Fling or Ribfest. Tons of great opportunities to meet great people and do great things.
