My sons doctor is in Naperville,in order to avoid rush hour headache for our hour or so ride home,we stay for dinner and enjoy walking around your wonderful town afterwards. We have been to "ROSEBUDS",,(nice sitting outside on the "river").Been to Lou Malnattis(no different from the others, but again, outside seating is nice).Any other suggestions for a family?(hes not a little one -11-and also we are not looking for a "charlie trotter$' type) Anything else on the river? Any local favorites? We have several more visits,so all suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Mongolian BBQ, Heaven on 7, Sullivans, Giordano's, Potters Place, etc. There are lots of restaurants there, your best bet is to just walk around and find one that suits your fancy. If you want to go really expensive, go to Meson Sabika.

Well, all the restaurants on the river in downtown are non-chain, but theyre also packed (ie Rosebuds). You could walk north of the river and find the Sushi House, Noodles n Co, Einstein Bagels, etc, etc, etc. Im actually thrilled that there are hardly any chain restaurants in Naperville's downtown, thats what makes it unique.

There is also Sorella di Francesca (sp?) on Jefferson, Catch 35 along Washington, Hugo's Frog Bar, etc.

Sorry to hear about your son. Thats not fun.

The only one I know of that has dining on the river is Rosebuds. The others back up to the river, but I dont recall any of them having open-air dining along the river.

If you're looking for dessert after dinner, I highly recommend Cookie Dough Creations (right down the street from Rosebud). First you choose your ice cream (Cold Stone-type variety) and then you get to choose from several different types of cookie dough (regular chocolate chips, M&M's, peanut butter, etc.). They put a huge scoop of that cookie dough right on top of your ice cream. I can't tell you how magnificent this is.
