The fox river valley might have a few hills and it is close to naperville. St. Charles, Geneva, Elburn, Campton Hills area. The biggest hills I have seen in this state are up by Galena.

You won't find anything like the dramatic hills around Cinci, but in general the Western burbs do offer some rolling, wooded terrain as you approach the Fox River. Some areas along the Des Plaines and Dupage rivers are similar. Some of the far north areas (Chain of Lakes) are also more hilly and wooded, but very far out from the city and Naperville. West of the Fox River you shift to prairie, which can be pretty in its own way but definitely flattens out and has fewer trees.

Some of the drives I know that showcase some rolling, forested terrain are 59 between 88 and 90 (skirts the edge of the Fox Valley burbs) and Algonguin road between Hoffman Estates and Algonguin (goes through Barrington Rd). Some of the other posters mentioned some nice areas in the Southern burbs I don't know as well.

Evanston outprices you a bit. You might want to check out Skokie. It is pretty close but has a less sophisticated population. Skevanston is a nice area. But it is more typical family suburban style. If you buy something in Evanston try west Evanston. Evanston has a new master plan for Evanston that will include 30 miles of new streets and single family homes of $500,000 plus set for the old industrial area near ETHS. I assume you are looking for a downtown condo? Since you are 30. I will post a list just like I did for cmow.
