GoCUBS1,

I disagree with you that the No Child Left behind program is "a mess all around". The program aimed to keep low-income high schools students uneducated and it has accomplished exactly that. The programed aimed to rob from poor and give to the rich and it has accomplished exactly that. The program aimed to leave no upper middle class white kid behind and it's done a pretty good job of this. Unlike the war on Iraq, the No Child Left Behind program has been a success. An accomplished mission, if you will.

As for your example, it's a bad example. That's a privileged school district not "the bottom". Although there might be a fair number of working class Hispanics in the district, I've been to West Dundee and driven through Algonquin and there's no way in hell the school district is in any way, shape or form "the bottom". A lot of upper (middle) class white kids live in that area. They have been well taken care of and so have the working class Hispanics who happen to live nearby. It's similar to how south suburban whites sometimes get screwed over because someone decided to screw over a bunch of black people.

Last year, me and a friend got caught in traffic and drove more than two hours to West Dundee for a D12 show. Aside from security guards and stage performers, my friend was the only black person at the rap concert. A group of guys were break dancing. Where did they tell us they learned how to break dance? It was taught to them at their high school! Considering the location, I wouldn't be surprised if they attended Carpentersville District 300. And yeah, I doubt it was hard for the district to re-allocate money for bilingual education and special ed.

Our schools are responding their usual way-giving the teachers their
3 to 8 % pay raises along with raising the administrators pay.

You've got to be kidding me... D300 is priviledged? You are judging a school district based on driving through some nearby towns and once attending a D12 concert? Next time, research some basic school facts (easy to find online) to back up your assertions rather than basing your theories on surface appearances alone.

Dundee H.S. has test scores comparable to many poor performing inner city schools. E.g. PSAE Scores for ALL groups (not just low-income) in 11th grade Reading, Math AND Science were well below 50% which is SIGNIFICANTLY below the state average. And the Illinois state averages are not even that impressive compared to the U.S. Natl. avg.

Since you took the time to DM me about my post, it appears you are in the mood for a fight. I am not. Since I have had years of experience with Illinois education and school systems, I have a pretty firm opinion on the matter, so any attacks from you will not change my views.

I agree that NCLB can hurt the low-income. But my post addressed PERFORMANCE levels, not income levels at all. E.g. NCLB affects high-performing students (regardless of income) who may now have fewer options for advanced coursework AND may not have access to other private/public programs.

I specifically addressed performance groups and did NOT group by income-level or race. However, in your post, you moved the focus to "middle-class WHITE kids" and "working-class Hispanics" and how someone "screwed over a bunch of black people."

And how have you come to your truths? By facts? Or is it that you spent a few hours in the town at a D12 show and you did not see a black person at the concert (other than your friend)?

I refuse to get pulled into your type of argument as I sense where it's headed. Please just research some school stats on your own and refrain from making sweeping generalizations based merely on surface appearances and racial makeup. As that kind of stereotyping can come across as uneducated and quite offensive.

I will not respond to future posts/DM from you.

Well, you didn't respond to my only message that was nothing more than a link to this thread and letting you know I commented back.

Thanks to the fiscal conservatives on our board, our school district is financially quite healthy in spite of the economy.

State and 30.1% below the spending of the other nine districts

A1 to Aa2.
❦ Since 2003, School District 101 has not run a single
operational-deficit in any fiscal year.
❦ Since the passage of the 2003 referendum, nearly $10 million in

❦ Funding sources to District 101 vary, year-to-year, but in FY
2009, we received nearly 91% of all funds from local sources,
8% from State sources, and less than 1% from Federal sources.
