Bartlett High School (Carol Stream, Streamwood: house, school district, live)

We are house hunting, primarily in Carol Stream, and found a house we really like. The "problem" is that it's in the U46 school district with Bartlett High School. I grew up in Carol Stream, lived in Streamwood for a couple years where my oldest daughter attended her first years of elementary school and was friends with lots of people who attended Streamwood High School. With all of that, I don't have a particularly high regard for that school district.

However, in checking the school report cards and grades on greatschools.org I've found that the particular schools my kids would attend rate very well. Better than the schools in the Carol Stream elementary district and the Glenbard high school district.

Now I'm conflicted. Can anyone tell me about the environment in the schools, particularly BHS? Gangs, teen pregnancy, fights as well as the availability of extracurricular activities, advanced placement and special education are all important factors.
