A few weeks ago my Caddy started idling very fast when it was cold. We have had some wet, dreary weather here lately, and in the morning, when I start it up, it would go to 1500-2000 and stay there until it warmed up.

I did some research, and changed out the throttle position sensor, and that marginally helped. Then I changed out the Idle Air Control valve, and it actually got much worse. It would go to 3000 and not come down to normal idle as fast as it did with the old, IAC, so I put the old one back.

The self diagnostics show only one current code, PZM B 2502, which comes up as a shorted wire on the transmission somewhere, but that code has been there since I put the car together 3 years ago. I put a new engine in one I bought with a blown Northstar, and it only had 50K on the new engine, probably has 65K on it now.)

The car idles at 600-650 once it warms up, but it takes a few miles usually to get the temp up enough to bring the idle down to that range.

Any ideas will be most appreciated.

It looks like no one had any suggestions on how to fix this, so I took it to a local Caddy specialist and left it with him. He could find no codes, nothing, couldn't do a thing. So I took it home and removed the airbox and computer. There, I found a wire hanging. It went from the block, so it is evidently a ground wire, but I had no idea where it terminated.

When we looked under the car at the ABS motor, we found the ground wire on it held on by only a couple of threads, the wire was loose on there. I had been getting intermittent dash lights that read "ABS' and "Traction control ". We attached the hanging wire to that stud and tightened the nut up.

Now, I no longer get those lights on the dash, and the car is idling somewhat better. Not perfect yet, but tolerable. It starts out at 1000 and will come down to 800 pretty fast, and end up at 600 when warm.

Just thought I would post this in case it can help someone else.

Thanks, you did help me. My last Caddy had both the ABS and Traction control light on too. Now I'll know what to look for if it happens in this caddy.
