Well my first week in Ooltewah is complete. I moved down last Friday and after working on the house non stop I have everything in place to bring my family down. Our kids don't get out of school up north until June 11th.

The humidity will take some getting used to but overall I love everything about it here. I took a break yesterday and took a drive on the Cherahola Skyway. I stopped to see Bald River Falls and take in the views. It was beautiful.

The only thing I wasn't expecting was the $200 deposit at VEC.

I live nearby in E. Brainerd. After living this far from the city for almost two years now, we've decided to move downtown. There is nothing to do in Ooltewah and the drive to downtown Chattanooga is too far if you go down there often like we do. I hope you still like it after a few years.

What do you think of Hixson?

I am not anticipating going downtown that often. We came from a city between Chicago and Milwaukee. I drove an hour and fifteen minutes to work every day so having a 30 minute trip to downtown is a short trip in my book.

You may end up with the opposite problem where you have to drive out to Brainerd or Signal Mountain quite often. There really aren't any gas stations or fast food downtown. There aren't grocery stores downtown except GreenLife (too expensive) and Buehlers (too cheap, no produce). Everything downtown shuts down at around 5 too, except the touristy stuff.

raya22, I like Hixson but it's too busy for me. There are lots of stores and restaurants there, close to Chester Frost State Park too. It's 15-20 minutes (in traffic) to downtown or Hamilton Place. Any specific questions?
