Hi, everyone!
I am moving from NY to Chattanooga next month. My hubby will be working with UTC but I will be in school at Southern adventist University so we are looking to get apartment close by Southern. I have a child in 3rd grade and another will be in kindergarten. The school close to where we are looking at will be wolftever creek elemntary at ooltewah ringgold rd. but Iam concerned that this school is in the midst of three large apartment complexes. Can anyone tell me how this area is like? are there high crimes? I had searched but could not find any info. The other choice of school will be Apison which does not have a good rating and I couldn't find any where for rent that will be zoned to ooltewah elementary. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

I don't know much about that area or the schools for that matter. Will have to ask around and get back to you.

Default Elementary schools

We live in Westview Elementary School catchment area and think it is great. Wolftever I discounted due to feedback when I was looking for a house. I have friends whose daughter is at Apison and they say it is OK except the principal is a dictator. If I was to chose I would take Apison over Wolftever. Just a gut feeling. Also look that you are in the zone for the new High/middle school. My daughter currently goes to Ooltewah Middle which is next to Wolftever and I have no issues with apts across the road etc. I take my daughter to school in the mornings and she takes the bus home every day. It took me 5 months to find the right house in the right area. If you have specific questions DM me.

Thanks Pioti. Iam sure it will take us few months to get the right place to buy but for now we are looking to rent at WINDING CREEK
apartments . Do you know anything about this place? I will check the Apison elementary school again, the kids will likely going to change schools when we buy a place. My first choice area will be westview elementary, what is the name of the new middle/high school?
We are African American young family and we love to be in area with diverse population. Does anyone know of African store/ market in chattanooga area?
Thanks again.

Exclamation EH Middle High

Thanks for the info, I looked up the website again today and saw that link for the first time. We are a bump on the outside of the edge of the zone, so next year he'll change and go there, or they may allow him to be grandfather'd in. They're going to do that for the new HS, but she wasnt sure about the middle yet.

We are moving to Chattanooga from Texas. We have a sixteen year old son with Asperger's. Our first priority is finding a high school that will accommodate his needs. Can someone please give us some guidance -- schools to pinpoint, or ones to avoid?? Actually, we'd like to live further out, I've heard that Soddy Daisy has a good school (I think I saw it on a blog......anybody know for sure??), and have been looking at homes in Meigs County (I'll make my first visit to Chattanooga next week, hope to pinpoint which schools to talk to, then we can narrow down exactly where to search for a home). Any advice would be appreciated!
