Does anyone have old photos of Cameron Hill (the homes, parks, etc.) that could be shared. I spent my early years on the Hill. Thank you.

My neighbor says that one of her ex-inlaw ancestors once owned a big house on Cameron Hill. Please pass along any old photos, if you would be so kind. Thanks. markawheeler@yahoo.com

This is probably WAY too dated for what you want but there are some good pics in there:

Interesting article with has pics on the bottom of the pages: 7/30/2006 - Historic Highways - East Terrace - Memories - Chattanoogan.com

Can't remember where, but I saw some pictures of Cameron Hill with Lookout Mt in the background, and it looked like a mini version of Lookout. Shame they razed it. Pretty sure it was done before Blue Cross even eyed the property so no ill will there. Perhaps one day I'll see the awesomeness of the facility up there.

The hill was at one time a "small version" of Lookout mountain, the shape and orientation were similar. I've seen the same picture but can't remember where either. My understanding is that after one of the major floods that destroyed Chattanooga, they took the top off Cameron Hill as fill to raise the level of the city. The last thing that was up here before BCBST was an apartment complex. So to build the current facility the apartments were torn down, but not any of the old houses, those were demolished in perhaps the 50's or 60's.

If you do a google maps view of cameron hill and switch to arial view, the image is still the aprtments.

I've got to say, the razing as a given, the Blue Cross building looks really sweet. They built that thing really well.

Default Photo of Cameron Hill

Mr. Ryan:
I am looking for a good picture of Cameron Hill. I have a good friend, Jerri Eakes Cash who grew up on Cameron Hill during 1940's. She will be 90 in December and I would like to give her the picture for Birthday gift. I would appreciate any help. Thank you, Charlotte Samples
