Moving to Chattanooga from DC-VA area... (apartment complexes, to rent, condos)

All, We are a family of three,myself, wife and 1.5 yr old son, will be moving to Chattanooga from the DC area. Know little to nothing about Chattanooga, so any information helps at this point. I have a few questions:

1) We are from India, is there a big Indian community there, how about indian grocery stores, and are there apartments where there is a large indian community?
2) What are the safe areas in Chattanooga? I will be working on Market St, is it safe to get apartments very close to Market street.
3) What are the good apartment complexes in the area?

Not sure how big the Indian community is here, but there is one. Yes, quite a few Indian grocery stores also. You can get some really nice apartments, condos in old buildings that have been redone, etc, but you are talking downtown and those can get quite expensive
Do a google search on downtown living in chattanooga and also downtown chattanooga apartments, you may find some in your price range and I believe it would be pretty safe.

Yes Sir there is a large Indian Community and has been for years. You'll get a kick out of this. My son was assigned India for his History project. He has to cook an Indian dish while delivering his report orally. So we had to find bsan powder. Found it at Greenlife. He presents his report tomorrow.

Any who, there are no "apartment complexes" in downtown Chattanooga. There are condos. Because of the fast and over development of the condo market you should be able to rent one. Also, the North Shore area is literally 2 to 5 minutes from Market St and there are plenty of options there as well.

There is definitely a very large Indian community here. I am guessing you might like cricket, there is a league of almost all Indians here in Chattanooga, which you might check out to meet some of the people in the area.

There aren't apartment complexes in downtown, but a few very close to downtown, like Riverview Apartments.

oooo, a cricket league! I will have to check that out. Really cool knowing we have all these pro and semi pro teams here in Chattanooga over the past few years. Soccer, Rugby, Womens pro football (locomotion), the elder softball leagues. Nice! I will deff have to check out the cricket.
