They both have a lot going for them. Where is your job located, and how much can you spend on a home?

The MGSD is highly regarded in the area and rates very highly in the whole state... If you can deal with the commute, Mooresville East of 77 is an excellent option for home value and great schools.

Both the MGSD and Cabarrus are good schools.
And the home prices are pretty comparable...meaning you can
get the same size, quality, land etc. for about the same price
in both areas. If you are planning a trip, I'd recommend scheduling
appointments at both school districts, tour them, meet the principals
and guidance counselors and form your own opinion. You can get
a much better comfort level on all of your concerns by making an
exploratory trip. It is very difficult to make those kind of decisions
from afar. The nice thing is, geographically, Iredell and Cabarrus
counties border each other, so it will not be difficult to explore
both on a long weekend.

At first, I was saying "they do?" and then I saw where the two counties actually do share a border for about 2 miles.
