Hello, I visited Charlotte for the first time in 10 years today. I traveled downtown and I like the downtown area. I also went through some areas I didn't like, but that is to be expected in every city. Anyway, I got off of East Harris Blvd and I felt like this is the area I will like to stay in. Its not far from the city and it has its own shopping area. Can someone please tell me other areas that are like this. I currently stay in Marietta, Ga. which is like 15-20 from downtown Atlanta. Marietta has everything i need (mall, grocery stores, restuarants, etc). I am looking to rent a nice townhome for like $750. Is there nice townhomes surrounding this area or is there another place with the same feel in Charlotte with nice townhomes?

Thanks.

Good luck on finding a townhome for $750. Most apartments arent even that cheap in the city. Think your talking about University when you got off on Harris. 2 bedroom apartments in University usually run $700-1000. There are plenty of areas that are like "little cities", University being one, Ballantyne, Southpark are some others but your looking at over $1000 for a 2 bedroom in those areas.

The difference between the two is that 1. Charlotte has annexed most of Mecklenburg County. Ballantyne, University City, etc aren't really suburbs as they are technically part of the city and 2. Atlanta suburbs are mostly developed and Charlotte's are still developing and have a long way to go (Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville, Waxhaw, Weddington, Concord, etc to name a few).
