What are your favorite or highly recommended furniture stores in the area?

I don't know if you consider High Point to be in the area but have you thought about Discount Furniture - Furnitureland South The place is huge and the prices are discounted. We got a lot of good stuff from there.

We furnished our dining room, as well as most of our living room and bedroom, with pieces from EQ3...so I guess you can say they are a favorite. We have rounded those rooms out with a few items from By Design and West Elm.

Our tastes run more towards "modern" than "traditional", and those stores tend to focus on more modern designs, and all have great stuff if that is one's taste. Although West Elm seems to cater more to condo-friendly furnishings (smaller spaces) than do EQ3 and By Design.

We just got new living room and dining pieces, and we ended going to the Hickory Furniture Mart. We had never been until a few months ago, but it's great. If you're unfamiliar with it, it's essentially a mall in Hickory that has nothing but furniture stores and a few rug galleries.

Around the Charlotte area, we went to Ikea, Value City Furniture, and the places on furniture row in Pineville (Drexel, Ethan Allen, etc.). We came really close to buying pieces at Haverty's, but in the end, HFM won out.

Value City Furniture has some beautiful pieces but they seem to scratch really really easy. Our bed frame actually came to us broken as well

There are several furniture places along Franklin in west Gastonia with good prices on nice, well-made furniture.

Do you by chance know the names of the stores?
