Hello! My name is Ellie and I currently reside in Brooklyn, NY. I've worked for the past 10 yrs at a local New York Hospital. I've had a number of positions - from Unit Secretary to my current position of Expeditor.
I plan on being in the Charlotte area in a few weeks (beginning of August) and was wondering if anyone knew of any online sites where I can start the ball rolling for interviews while I'm there?

Any/all information is appreciated.
Thanks!
Getting a job can be difficult in Charlotte these days, so be prepared to pound the pavement a bit, okay?
Our two largest hospital systems are Carolinas Medical Center and Presbyterian. Each have big main campuses near our uptown area (the center of Charlotte) and satellite hospitals all around the city. I'd start with their websites.
I would agree with Loves. But just a word to the wise . . . our unemployment rate is one of the highest in the nation. However, if you are moving here w/ a spouse, for ex., and have no choice about coming, then you are in the position of doing what so many are right now . . . applying for all possibilities and hopefully, riding out the time until things pick up again.
our unemployment rate is one of the highest in the nation.
GOOD LUCK!
R U Serious? I would say the unemployment rate here is higher than average but certainly not one of the highest, back in my home state we had the unemployment rate in some cities well over 20+%. I know there is one county in SC where its over 20% but as for Charlotte arent we only at like 12% or something? I mean 12% is way better than 24%.

Yes, it is one of the highest in the nation. Yes, there are places that have a higher rate. That does not diminish the fact that the unemployment rate in this city is one of the highest in the nation, according to the Labor Department.
Charlotte is listed as # 320 out of 372 cities listed at 12% unemployed. So 319 cities have a lower rate of unemployment. Seems plenty high to me especially since New York City is only at 8.2.

Yes its high but when someone says that our unemployment rate is "One of the highest" in the nation I would think that would put us in the top 5% but this don't even put us in the top 10%!!!!

You know . . . you are right. Why even concern one's self with the unemployment rate? I don't know why I mentioned it. Why think about choosing a city that doesn't have thousands of people laid off and looking for the same few jobs? Why alert a newcomer that it may take a year to get a job, even a low paying one?
Thanks for setting me straight, CC.
And while I am at it . . .I meant to ask how your job search is coming.
