Just read the thread about the problems with opening a new back account in the Charlotte area. We opened an account with BBT here in Maryland so when we move to Charlotte next month we have access to our money there. We can always move it to a local bank after we move, but for now it's nice having it when we visit and then when we're there permanently. Just a suggestion....

It's a very good suggestion Dukesmom! We did the same thing when we moved from NY in 2006. Just before we signed a contract for our new home, we opened an account with Wachovia because it was the only bank with a branch near us in NY that was in Mooresville. It made it so much easier everytime we came down during the building process & had to write any checks.

That is a great idea. We considered the same thing as well when we moved from NJ. The only problem was that the only bank serving our rural NJ area and the Charlotte area was BOA. No thanks! So we did it the old fashioned way and closed our old accounts on the way out. Hey, it worked.
