So Mother's Day is coming and I wanted to buy my wife some jewelry for her first Mother's Day. Something simple for everyday...nothing too expensive or flashy.

Are there any good places to buy jewelry around Charlotte? Looking for good prices (maybe a cash discount?) and a good selection. Don't want a retail chain...

I haven't decided what to get...any suggestions for a new mom?

I vote for Lion's. They do have some expensive stuff but also have some unique lower priced items. Just go in and tell them your price range and they will help you. GREAT customer service BTW...

No suggestion... but I did want to say that your thought is very sweet, and I'm sure your wife will appreciate any token to commemorate her first mother's day.

Pearls are always nice. A classic gift that a child can even inherit later.

A nice pendant with the new baby's birthstone in it . . .

All depends on how much you have to spend.

Hubby has bought items at Donald Haack and Brownlee. My BIL has bought beautiful stuff from Skatell's and I have been very impressed with their staff. I have not personally bought anything from there but am thinking about having them design a ring for a stone I have.

I just got on their website and they have a 14 KT yellow gold "add a pearl" necklace for $79. So there is a wide price range of beautiful items out there. You could get that necklace, add a few more pearls to it, then you can buy more pearls every b/day, holidays, etc. (assuming your wife would like that). Or a black pearl necklace for $315 . . . you can spend a little or you can spend a lot!!!

Skatell's Manufacturing Jewelers - necklaces

I would check out Lewis Jewelers - Mr. Lewis has been around a long time and has an excellent reputation in Charlotte. He has a new store off of Ardrey Kell and one on Sardis Rd at Monroe. Congrats on the new baby
